Dr. Seuss's How The Grinch Stole Christmas at Children's Theatre Company
  • The holiday classic on stage! Tom is delighted to play a citizen of Whoville in this hilarious and heartwarming tradition for all ages at CTC. Runs November 4th - January 4th. Tickets and info. ​

The Retirement Party - Comedic Short Film
  • "Best Acting in a leading role" and "Best Film" winner in the Twin Cities 48 Hour Film Project! A meek antique dealer (played by Tom) is gaslit by a bombastic, hyper-confident coworker (Taj Ruler) who leads half of the office to believe an absurd alternate version of the previous 10 minutes of their shared reality. Produced and directed by frequent collaborators, Above the Line Entertainment. In addition to TC 48HFP awards, selected for a growing list of film festivals including Twin Cities Film Fest (screening 10/24/25). View the trailer here. 

NEXT Festival 2025 - The Homefront 
  • Part of Theater Latte Da's new work festival,The Homefront tells a post-WWII story from the perspective of the women working in factories who were immediately fired when the men came home, and how that impacted white women and black women differently. Tom plays James, a returning soldier whose psyche and marriage have both been permanently transformed by war. Tickets and info.​

Violet at Ten Thousand Things Theater
  • A heartfelt musical in motion set in the American south in the 1960s. A young woman with a disfiguring scar goes on a cross-country bus journey in search of a televangelists's (played by Tom) healing touch. More info here.​​

V/H/S/85 - Horror Short Film - Streaming on Shudder!
  • Tom's in this found footage-style horror short in the V/H/S horror series directed by Mike P. Nelson. Streaming on Shudder now! Watch tailer.

  • Scrooge in Rouge at Open Eye Theatre. An English music hall send up of A Christmas Carol using only three actors, Scrooge in Rouge is a spunky, bawdy romp through the Dickens classic that leans into the hilarious chaos of a tiny cast playing many many roles! Details here.
  • Scotland, PA at Theater Latte Da. Tom plays goofy stoner Banko in this regional premiere of Scotland, PA - a darkly comedic musical adaptation of the film of the same name (which is loosely based on Shakespeare's Macbeth). Hilarious, rocking new musical with a creative team full of Broadway luminaries. Great reviews for Scotland: "A murderously good time," "Courses with electricity," "Heart, laughs and tragedy," "Stylish staging," and praise for Tom's performance as Banko: "Dynamic and hilarious," "Fabulous in the role," "Has the audience eating out of the palm of his hand."   • The Therapy Room - Above the Line Entertainment. Tom plays a grumpy, but loving brother in this short comedic film about a family that accidentally books a themed escape room rather than a real therapist. 48 Hour Film Project "Best Of", official selection of Sioux City International Film Festival, Twin Cities Film Fest, and several others!
  • Little Shop of Horrors at Guthrie Theater. ​Tom understudies Audrey II puppeteering and the ensemble in this "frightfully funny musical" classic. Don't Feed The Plants!! Runs June 22nd - August 18th. Tickets and info HERE. 
  • The Spitfire Grill at Ten Thousand Things Theater. Tom plays Caleb in this musical adaptation of the film of the same name. A struggling restaurant in a struggling small town in Wisconsin becomes a place for hope, renewal and joy. TTT's in-the-round, minimalist productions are singular and fantastic. More info and tickets here.
  • Stones in His Pockets at Theater Latte Da. An Olivier Award-winning comedy set in rural Ireland, two actors (Tom Reed & Reed Sigmund) portray a colorful cast of characters immersed in the often hilarious, sometimes tragic impacts of a Hollywood movie filming in the Irish countryside.   • The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at Artistry. Tom played Leaf Coneybear in this hilarious, heart-warming musical treat! October 2023. Tickets here. 
  • The Family We Chose - short film. Tom was nominated for Best Lead Actor in the 2022 Z-Fest Film Festival for his performance in The Family We Chose (which was nominated in a total of 10 categories!). Produced by Above-the-Line Entertainment, directed by Justin & Kristin Schaack.   • Loch Mess at Open Eye Theatre. Tom plays Scottish monster hunter Dangus McMacaroney (and other roles) in Open Eye's summer 2023 production. Tickets and Info.
  • Georgiana & Kitty: Christmas at Pemberley at Jungle Theater. Tom plays Thomas O'Brien in this delightful holiday story set in the world of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Rolling world premiere of this final installment in Lauren Gunderson & Margot Melcon's Austen-inspired trilogy. TICKETS.
  • Erotica for Houseplants at Minnesota Fringe Festival (August 4-14th). Written and performed by Tom, this comedic collage of (very silly) planty erotica is delighting crowds and reviewers alike!   • Lounge-asaurus Rex at HUGE Improv Theater [two nights only!] Rex's brand of crafty crooning appears as part of "Shuffle Play: Your Favorite Musical Groups in Rotation" on January 14th and February 11th at 8:00pm. Stick around afterward for "Poems, for Each Other" by Theo Langason [9:30 show] - awesome, impactful improv unlike anything you've seen. TICKETS.

  • TNT - Summer Potluck at HUGE Improv Theater. Improv duo TNT (Taj Ruler & Tom Reed) play HUGE's stage for one night only. In years of working together at the Brave New Workshop, Taj & Tom have clocked more than 1,000 performances together and their comedic chemistry shows.   • Lounge-asaurus Rex emerges from hibernation with two one-off shows as part of HUGE Improv Theater's foray back into live shows. See Rex IN PERSON(!) with the marvelous John Hilsen on keys -  July 10th at 9:30pm and August 6th at 8pm. TICKETS.
  • LOG JAM! A Paul Bunyan Musical Spectacular (theater returns - outdoors!) Tom plays villain Gunders Helslarsen and Sam the lumberjack in this outdoor Open Eye Theater premiere of a subversive, hilarious riff on the legend of Paul Bunyan! Hosted on the Bakken Museum's beautiful green rooftop May 27th- June 20th.   • It's Nine O'Clock Somewhere: The Lounge-asaurus Rex MORNING SHOW! (at 11:59am)
    At HUGE Improv Theater (via Zoom).     Join Lounge-asaurus Rex LIVE via Zoom for a stiff cup of improvised music and laughs. Savor in silence or unmute and inspire epic songs and crisp hot banter that goes great with pancakes - or a sandwich.   • Interstate - A New Musical at Mixed Blood Theatre. Tom is in the cast of Mixed Blood's world premiere production of Interstate, "a Queer Asian-American pop-rock musical about two trans people at different stages of their journeys, navigating love, family, masculinity, and finding community in the era of social media." Runs March 6th - March 29th. Tickets and details HERE.
  • Getting Plowed: A Holiday Survival Guide at Brave New Workshop. Brave New Workshop's annual holiday sketch comedy revue - live through the holidays with laughter. Irreverent, fun, funny - like egg nog served in a boot. Santa's boot. Bonus improv sets after most performances. Runs through January 25th, 2020. Tickets and details HERE. 
  • Young Frankenstein at Merrill Arts Center (Director) Tom directed the stage musical version of Mel Brooks' iconic comedy classic Young Frankenstein at Merrill Arts Center. A quirky masterpiece with iconic characters and so many quotable moments, now with epic musical numbers! Runs Feb 7-9, 14-16. Tickets and details HERE. 
  • Creature Feature at HUGE Theater (improv) A full length improvised monster movie created in real time based on audience suggestions. Shows every Friday in September and October. Tickets and details HERE.
  • Game of Toms: One-man Game of Thrones at Minnesota Fringe. Tom returns to MN Fringe to irreverently resurrect all eight seasons of death, sex and dragons in this EPIC solo musical parody of Game of Thrones.   • Autonomy at Mixed Blood Theater. Tom played Karl in this epic event show which was part auto show, part Disney ride, part drive in theater. 
  • Love and Other Social Diseases Brave New Workshop's 300th sketch comedy revue! Love, relationships and other mistakes we all make are tackled with BNW's signature biting and energetic wit. Bonus improv set after every 7:30 and 8:00pm performance. Previews start February 14th. Tickets HERE.
  • "Gloria" and "Hooded: or Being Black for Dummies" Tom was in two plays running in rep at Mixed Blood Theater. Gloria and Hooded: or Being Black for Dummies open November 17th and run through December 2nd. More info and tickets. 
  • Greenway at the Twin Cities Horror Festival. A new horror show written and directed by Tom for the 2018 Twin Cities Horror Festival. This is definitely not a comedy. Late on a crisp fall night, a bike commuter’s worst nightmare comes true on the Greenway. Tickets and details at tchorrorfestival.com ​
  • Ferris Mueller's Day Off Sketch comedy at the Brave New Workshop with a bonus improv set after every performance. Shows every Thursday, Friday and Saturday through October 27th. Tickets.
  • Gunplay!: A new comedy A new show by Tom for the Minnesota Fringe Festival. Set in the absurd alternate reality of America in 2018, this satire follows an attempt to stage a gun lobby group's "hip, fun!" musical active shooter drill with high school students.   • Couple Fight: The Musical! (only 5 performances starting August 3rd)
  • The hit Fringe franchise is back (#1 seller in 2017) with a musical vengeance! Directed and edited by Tom with musical direction by the marvelous Keith Hovis and a dynamite cast of Fringe and Twin Cities favorites. Tickets and details at MinnesotaFringe.org. 
  • Age Against the Machine: BNW's Greatest Hits (sketch comedy) Best of sketch comedy show celebrating Brave New Workshop's 60th Anniversary(!) through June 16th. Improv after every Thursday, Friday and Saturday 8pm performance. Tickets.​

  • Couple Fight at the 2015 Minnesota Fringe Festival (Director/writer). Six Fringe couples reenact the stupidest, real fights they've ever had. These hilarious vignettes about bad birthday presents, game night rage and insensitive farting prove - hindsight is funny/funny.5/5 Stars and 6th highest ticket sales in entire 2015 festival.
